Heading up onto the porch to Dave’s house, [Name] sighed as she realized that not only could she hear the cheery Christmas music, but also the sound of Karkat and Sollux going at it - again. Honestly, she didn’t know what her boyfriend did to Karkat that made him so mad, but they were supposedly best friends, so she had always just ignored it. Opening the front door and calling out a greeting, she waved to Rose and Roxy who were on the couch relaxing.

Dave was tending the fireplace and he turned, noticing that [Name] was there. “Oh hey there! He’s in the kitchen, as you can hear.”

“What did he do this time?” [Name] asked, hanging her coat and scarf up on the hooks.

“Pranked Karkat or something I think. I never know with those two fuckers.”

“I got it.” [Name] wandered into the kitchen and stood behind her boyfriend, tapping her foot as Karkat yelled at him and he just chuckled in response. “Idiot!” She exclaimed, punching Sollux in the back of the head and crossing her arms.

Now it was Karkat’s turn to snicker as Sollux turned in surprise to see his girlfriend glaring up at him. “Ow. That really doeth hurt when you do that.”

“Good. I’m trying to knock some fucking sense into you. Honestly Sollux? A prank on Christmas? Do you have no manners at all?”

“KK wath begging for it. I thwear.”

“That’s fucking bullshit, Sollux, and you know it! Stop trying to get one up on [Name] because it isn’t going to happen.”

[Name] smiled brilliantly over at Karkat. “Thanks Karkles. I’m glad that you can see it.”

Sollux sulked as Karkat brushed past him, hitting his shoulder in the process. “I don’t know why you alwayth take hith thide of thingth.”

“Because you’re always in the wrong, Sollux.”

[Name] had to admit to herself that things with Sollux hadn’t been great. He’d been fighting more with Karkat lately, something the boy wasn’t fond of. [Name] would have loved to take Sollux’s side, but he was always wrong, and he knew it! She supposed that she should always stick with her boyfriend, but her sense of right and wrong had always been high when she was younger, so whenever something was wrong, she immediately rebelled against it.

“Have you gotten some food yet?” She asked, approaching her boyfriend with a smile.

“Not yet, no. I wath too buthy arguing with KK.”

[Name] stared up at Sollux for a few moments before she spoke again. “Then grab some food and come and sit out here on the couch. I’ll save a spot for you.”

“Okay.”

Pressing a hand to her forehead to ease the mini headache she had received upon arriving here, [Name] flopped down on the couch next to Rose.

“I certainly don’t see how you can deal with them. They are like little children.”

“You’re telling me, Rose,” [Name] murmured, pushing the food around on her plate. “They really need to grow up and stop fighting like little kids.”

“Not hungry tonight, Miss [Last Name]?”

“Not really, Jake, no.”

“Thtop lying and jutht eat already,” Sollux said, sitting down next to his girlfriend. “I know you hardly eat anything at work, tho don’t go thaying that you’re not hungry.”

“Yes, Sollux,” [Name] said, a small smile on her face.

Putting his arm around her and pulling her closer, Sollux grinned. “And I’m not letting you go until you eat everything on your plate.”

“Really? But I put a lot on here and-”

“Don’t care.”

“Sollux!”

“Not lithtening.”

[Name] huffed and stared up at her boyfriend. “You’re a meanie.”

“Am not.”

“Are too.”

“Am not.”

“Are too.”

“Not.”

“Too, and if you don’t agree with me then you don’t get this little present I have for you here.”

“Prethent?” Sollux’s eyes lit up happily.

“Yup. But you ain’t going to get it unless you behave.”

Sollux pouted, but tried to do as [Name] asked. After all, you couldn’t go wrong with gifts!

Later on when the food had been eaten and the party was winding down, Sollux pulled [Name] out onto the icy porch so they could look at the stars.

“It’s kinda cold out here, Sol.”

“Thorry. I jutht wanted thome time with you to mythelf.”

“You don’t have to apologize for that silly.”

“It’th jutht…” Sollux trailed off, fighting for the right words while his girlfriend looked at him confused. “You alwayth agree with KK over me, and thometimeth I think that maybe you’d be better off with him.”

[Name] tilted her head. Sollux was worried about her leaving him? “Sollux, while I do agree with Karkat more, it’s because you’ve done something that you shouldn’t have done. My sense of right and wrong has nothing to do with the two of you because you have something that Karkat will never have. Me. I adore Karkat, but there is no way that I’d choose him over you. I love you too much to do that.”

Sollux gave a small chuckle and hugged his girlfriend close. “I’m thorry. I know I can be an idiot when it cometh to KK, tho I’ll try to mend my wayth.”

Pulling Sollux’s present out of her pocket, [Name] handed it to him with a smile. “Merry Christmas.”

Taking the present, Sollux squished it within his hands. “A thhirt? Thockth?”

“Would you stop guessing and open the damn thing?”

Sollux grinned and tore open the packaging. “Now thith ith cool.” He held up the red and blue tie with little bees on it and chuckled. “I think it matcheth me.”

“Of course it does. Shrug off your jacket and I’ll put it on you.” Putting the tie on him and tightening it, [Name] smoothed out the wrinkles in his shirt and smiled. “It works.”

“I gotta go thow thith to KK.”

[Name] gently grabbed Sollux by the tie and smiled. “If you start something with him again,” she said, tightening the fabric around his neck. “Then I’ll choke you with this personally.”

Sollux nodded as [Name] loosened it with a laugh. “Love you Sollux.”

“I love you too, [Name]. Merry Chrithtmath.”
